Donald Trump signals possible end to US military strikes on Iran

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has hinted that in the near future he may halt military strikes being carried out by US forces against Iran, starting from February 28, 2026

On March 20, Trump posted on Truth Social that the United States is nearing its objectives in the strikes, which include reducing Iran’s missile capabilities, destroying its military industries, weakening its naval and air forces, and preventing it from developing weapons of mass destruction.

The President explained that the US is close to achieving its goal of ensuring high-level security for allied countries in the Middle East, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

He said, “We are nearing our objectives as we consider ending our major military operations in the Middle East targeting the terrorist state of Iran.”

Trump had previously announced that the US would deploy warships to the Strait of Hormuz to join other nations in securing the passage, amid attempts by Iranian forces to block it and disrupt global oil shipments.

However, on March 20, he stated that while the Strait of Hormuz must be secured, it should not be the responsibility of the United States alone, but rather of the countries that rely on it although the US would provide assistance if needed.
