Trump says US will not attack Iran before November midterm elections

US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will not launch attacks against Iran before the midterm elections scheduled for November 3, 2026.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump said the United States was engaged in what he described as productive talks with Iran.

“We are having productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran. I want to inform everyone that …… we will not launch attacks against Iran before the US midterm elections scheduled for November 3,” Trump said.

Trump said Iran was facing serious economic and military difficulties, but indicated that the decision to refrain from attacking the country before the elections would not mean an end to efforts to block its maritime routes.

He also said large volumes of oil continued to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that 22 million barrels had passed through the waterway alone the previous night.

Trump insisted that none of the oil had originated from Iran or was destined for the country.

He reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, declaring: “Iran will not have a nuclear weapon!”
