U.S House of Representatives votes to extend AGOA to 2028

The U.S. House of Representatives voted this week to extend the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a 25-year-old programme between the U.S. and sub-Saharan African nations that underpinned the U.S.-Africa trade relationship.

Xi’s speech at Central Urban Work Conference to be published

BEIJING, Jan. 15 — A speech delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the Central Urban Work Conference will be published on Friday.

The speech by Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in this year’s second issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.

UN Resident Coordinator Hosts New Japanese Ambassador in Courtesy Visit

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Rwanda, Dr. Ozonnia Ojielo, received H.E. Ambassador Nakajo Kazuya, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Rwanda, on a courtesy visit this week. The meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss ways to strengthen multilateral cooperation and support Rwanda’s development priorities.
