Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accused President Donald Trump’s administration of engaging in a “cover-up” over its handling of files connected to late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as reported by BBC News.
During the annual World Forum in Berlin, Clinton called on the US Department of Justice to fully release all documents tied to the Epstein investigation. “Get the files out. They are slow-walking it,” she said, arguing that transparency is necessary to restore public trust.
Congressional Testimony Looms
Both Hillary and former President Bill Clinton are due to testify before a congressional committee examining the handling and release of the Epstein files. Hillary Clinton is expected to appear a day before her husband, who will testify on 27 February.
A planned vote to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress was shelved after the pair agreed to testify.
Trump Responds
President Trump, who is mentioned in the released files but has denied any wrongdoing, dismissed Clinton’s claims. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he said he had “nothing to hide” and insisted he had been “exonerated.”
The White House maintained that by releasing thousands of pages and cooperating with congressional subpoenas, the administration had done “more for the victims than Democrats ever have,”
The political dispute over transparency and accountability continues to escalate as lawmakers push for further disclosures.
