Minister Nkulikiyinka conveyed greetings from Paul Kagame to Seychelles, emphasizing Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening close collaboration with the island nation. Pillay expressed appreciation and affirmed Seychelles’ interest in deepening the partnership.
According to the Office of the President of Seychelles, Pillay and Minister Nkulikiyinka, who was serving as a special envoy of President Kagame, held talks on cooperation in key sectors including education, tourism, and agriculture.
Both sides also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, with Seychelles interested in exporting seafood products to the Rwandan market.
They further discussed collaboration in improving service delivery, institutional capacity building, and sharing expertise, based on their shared goal of strengthening governance and achieving sustainable development.
Pillay indicated his interest in establishing a joint commission that would prepare and closely monitor the implementation of agreements between Rwanda and Seychelles.
During President Kagame’s working visit to Seychelles in 2023, the two countries agreed to cooperate in key sectors such as health, investment, and security.
At that time, Rwanda and Seychelles also signed a visa waiver agreement to facilitate easier travel and trade between their citizens.
