Our Story

For too long, Africa’s story has been told through a narrow, negative lens — war, corruption, poverty, and chaos — as if the continent never innovates or succeeds. These harmful narratives have real consequences. Many Africans, grow to hate their own home, believing mythical “green pastures” lie only in the West. This desperation fuels dangerous journeys: in 2025 alone, more than 3,000 migrants died trying to reach Spain by sea, many from African countries (Caminando Fronteras, 2025).

At the same time, persistent bias and risk perceptions have harmed Africa’s economic standing. African governments face elevated borrowing costs in global markets, with many sovereign bond yields averaging close to 10 %, far above those in advanced economies where rates can be below 1 % (World Bank World Debt Report, 2025). Developing countries overall paid a record $1.4 trillion in foreign debt service in 2023, with interest costs surging to their highest in decades, straining budgets and diverting resources from health, education, and infrastructure (World Bank International Debt Report, 2024).

From the ashes of one of history’s darkest tragedies, Rwanda rose not by miracles but through resilience, visionary leadership, and the unwavering commitment of its people. From this story of transformation comes AE News — an international media house born in Rwanda with a bold vision: to change how Africa is reported and understood on the global stage.

AE News will spotlight the real Africa — its breakthroughs in technology, health, education, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, governance, and enterprise — by elevating stories that are often underrepresented in global news cycles. We will amplify African voices and achievements, contribute to a more balanced global conversation, and help Africans rediscover confidence and pride in their own stories.

By telling the truth about Africa’s progress and potential, AE News will combat internalized disdain that drives youth migration and challenge perceptions that unfairly inflate the continent’s borrowing costs. We are here to change the narrative — not with optimism alone, but with facts, real stories, and a commitment to show Africa as it really is: young, dynamic, capable, and rising. That is why we are here!
