The visit is the first official visit by a Rwandan President to Oman and is aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation.
President Kagame’s visit began with an official welcoming ceremony hosted by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
The two leaders later held bilateral talks, followed by discussions involving delegations from both countries. Their discussions focused on strengthening the existing relationship between Rwanda and Oman and exploring new areas in which the two countries can expand their cooperation.
On the second day of his visit, President Kagame is expected to visit the Museum of the Frankincense Land, located within the Al Baleed Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The museum consists of two main sections. The Heritage Hall focuses on archaeological history, the region’s cultural heritage and the important role that the frankincense trade played in the social and economic development of the Dhofar region.
Meanwhile, the Maritime Hall highlights Oman’s long history of maritime travel and trade, showcasing the country’s historical connection to the sea and international commerce.
President Kagame is also expected to visit the Razat Royal Farm, a royal agricultural estate covering more than 404 hectares. The farm is one of the major agricultural facilities in the Dhofar Governorate and is also used for agricultural tourism and educational activities.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq will later host President Kagame and the Rwandan delegation for an official dinner.
Rwanda and Oman already share historical and diplomatic relations, and the visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Several agreements and memoranda of understanding are also expected to be signed during the visit, covering different sectors of cooperation as Rwanda and Oman seek to deepen and expand their bilateral partnership.
