Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the online fashion giant Asos, has died after falling from a high-rise apartment building in Pattaya, Thailand. The incident occurred, according to BBC News.

Authorities reported that Griffiths, a British national, was alone at the time of his death. His apartment suite on the 17th floor of a luxury hotel was locked from the inside, and police found no signs of forced entry. An autopsy revealed no evidence of foul play.

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British national who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”

Griffiths co-founded Asos in London in 2000 alongside Nick Robertson, Andrew Regan, and Deborah Thorpe. The company, originally named As Seen On Screen, sold fashion inspired by clothing worn on TV and in films. Over the years, it grew into a leading online fashion marketplace, stocking hundreds of brands alongside its own lines, and was at one point valued at over £6 billion.

After leaving Asos in 2005, Griffiths remained a significant shareholder. Thai police said he was involved in two ongoing court cases, including a legal dispute with his second wife over a business they ran together, which may have caused him stress.

Asos’ largest shareholders include Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, owner of clothing giant Bestseller, and Mike Ashley, owner of Frasers Group.

Griffiths’ passing marks a tragic end for one of the pioneers of online fashion retail, whose work helped transform the way people shop globally.
