Kigali,The Ministry of Education has sealed a strategic partnership with MTN Rwanda to fast-track digital skills development and expand access to digital learning across Rwanda’s education sector, with the agreement signed on January 29, 2026, as the country steps up efforts to build a competitive digital economy.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Education reports that the partnership anchors the rollout of the Digital Skills for Digital Jobs initiative, a nationwide digital learning and career-guidance platform designed to equip young people with in-demand skills aligned with labour-market needs.
Through this platform, more than 500 digital courses will be made available to students, teachers, out-of-school youth, and beneficiaries of government-supported programmes, thereby widening pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
During the launch, Minister of Education Joseph Nsengimana emphasized that the collaboration goes beyond connectivity to deliver practical, transformative skills.
In this context, teachers enrolled in English-language programmes will benefit from affordable, customized data bundles, while digital education content will be made more accessible and inclusive.
Meanwhile, participants in the RISE Programme will receive targeted support to strengthen their digital competencies.

Overall, the partnership is expected to enhance workforce readiness, expand access to digital employment opportunities, and support informed career pathways for young people.
Ultimately, these efforts contribute to the implementation of Rwanda’s Vision 2050, which prioritizes human capital development, digital transformation, and the transition to a resilient, inclusive, and knowledge-based economy.
