The activity was conducted following a request from prison authorities, which was channeled through the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic.
The initiative focused on screening various illnesses, as well as providing dental and eye care services.
Medicines were also distributed to treat diagnosed conditions, alongside counseling sessions aimed at helping inmates regain hope and rebuild confidence in life.
The Commander of the first battalion, Lt. Col. Paul Gasasira, said, “Our presence here today reflects MINUSCA’s commitment, not only to supporting peace and security in the Central African Republic, but also to promoting human dignity and respecting everyone, including those in correctional facilities.”
He encouraged the inmates to remain hopeful and resilient.
The prison director, Djadde Clotilde, expressed sincere appreciation to MINUSCA, particularly the Rwandan peacekeepers, for their cooperation and humanitarian support.
This initiative not only delivered healthcare services but also restored dignity and hope among the women inmates at Bimbo Prison.
