The ‘Actor Awards’ 2026: A Night of Vampires, Legends, and Bittersweet Goodbyes

At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Hollywood celebrated excellence and emotional tributes to acting.

LOS ANGELES, The 32nd Annual Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, didn’t just move to a new name and a permanent home on Netflix; it moved the soul of Hollywood. Held on March 1, 2026, at the Shrine Auditorium, the ceremony hosted by a characteristically sharp Kristen Bell served as both a high-octane predictor for the upcoming Oscars and a deeply emotional tribute to the craft of acting.

Michael B. Jordan Reigns Supreme

The night belonged to Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners. In a major upset that has completely rewired the Oscar race, Michael B. Jordan took home the statue for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. Jordan, who played dual roles (the Smokestack twins) in the film, beat out heavy favorite Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme).

”I’ve grown up in front of you all,” Jordan said in a husky, emotional speech, nodding to the peers who voted for him. “To be recognized by the people who know how hard this is… it means everything.” The film also secured the night’s top prize: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, with the ensemble including Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku taking the stage to a thunderous reception

Jessie Buckley’s Triple Crown

On the female side, Jessie Buckley continued her relentless awards-season dominance. After winning both the BAFTA and the Golden Globe, she secured the Actor Award for Leading Female Actor for her haunting portrayal of Agnes Shakespeare in Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet. Buckley’s win solidified her status as the definitive frontrunner for the Academy Awards.

However, the loudest applause of the night was reserved for the late Catherine O’Hara. Her win for Female Actor in a Comedy Series for The Studio brought the audience to their feet for a prolonged standing ovation. Her co-star Seth Rogen (who won Male Actor in a Comedy Series) accepted the award on her behalf in a moment that balanced his trademark humor with genuine grief.

The Icon: Harrison Ford’s Life Achievement

The evening reached its emotional peak when Harrison Ford took the stage to receive the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award. The 83-year-old legend, met with a three-minute standing ovation, kept his remarks characteristically brief but poignant. “I’m just a guy who got lucky enough to find a job he loved,” Ford remarked, clutching the bronze statue. “And I’m grateful I got to do it with all of you.” He noted.
