Two senior officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Lt Col Christian Mushengezi and Lt Col John Bosco Kamuhangire, have graduated from advanced defence studies programmes at the Joaan bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies in Qatar after successfully completing a ten-month professional military education programme.
In addition to their military studies, the two officers also completed Arabic language training, equipping them with additional skills to strengthen international military cooperation and engagement with Arabic-speaking partners.
The graduation ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs. The event was attended by senior officials of the Qatar Armed Forces, members of the diplomatic corps, and other distinguished guests.
The Rwanda Defence Force was represented at the ceremony by the Defence Attaché to the State of Qatar, Col. Bernard Niyomugabo, who joined other officials in congratulating the graduates on their achievement.
The completion of the programme reflects the continued cooperation between Rwanda and Qatar in the field of defence education and professional military development. Such training opportunities are aimed at enhancing the leadership capacity of RDF officers while strengthening bilateral ties and promoting collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries.
The RDF regularly sends officers to reputable military institutions around the world as part of its commitment to developing a highly professional, skilled, and globally engaged defence force capable of responding to emerging security challenges.
