Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was recently re-elected as President of Uganda, will be sworn in for his new term on May 12, 2026.
According to information released by Uganda’s government media center, the swearing-in ceremony will take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, a venue commonly used for major national events.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by dignitaries from across the world.
All preparations for the event are being overseen by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President.
In January 2026, Museveni won the presidential election with 71.6% of the vote, defeating seven other candidates.
Uganda’s presidential election was held on January 15, 2026. The Electoral Commission reported that 52.5% of the 21.6 million registered voters participated in the election.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been in power since 1986.
