Rwanda is among eight countries hosting these matches organized by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), and it has the unique role of hosting two groups. The other host countries are Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, and Puerto Rico.
The eight teams that will compete in Kigali include Rwanda, Grenada, Kenya, and Estonia, placed in Group A, which will begin matches on Friday, March 27, at Amahoro Stadium.
Meanwhile, Aruba, Macau, Tanzania, and Liechtenstein are in Group B, which will play at Kigali Pelé Stadium in Nyamirambo starting Thursday, March 26, 2026.
On Monday, March 23, the participating teams began arriving in Kigali. Among those already in the country are Grenada, which will face Rwanda in the opening match on Friday at 9:00 PM, and Estonia, which will take on Kenya starting at 6:00 PM.
The President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), Fabrice Shema Ngoga, along with the First Vice President in charge of Technical Affairs, Richard Mugisha, were among the officials who welcomed the arriving teams.
Among the players called up for Grenada ahead of their match against Rwanda are Benjamin Etienne and Trevon Williams (Queen’s Park Rangers FC), Greg Standiford (Coventry City), Lucas Akins (Mansfield Town), and Ellis Le Hanne (Tottenham Hotspur youth team).
