India: To commemorate with Rwandans, Indian students showcased artworks

Students from schools in India showcased various artworks aimed at commemorating the 32nd anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi

These artworks were presented on the morning of April 7, 2026, in the hall where the event marking the 32nd commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi was held.

The Embassy of Rwanda in India stated that officials, including Rwanda’s Ambassador to India, Jacqueline Mukangira, the Head of the United Nations Office in India, Darrin Farrant, and teachers, were first guided through the exhibition and given explanations about the messages conveyed in the artworks.

High Commissioner of Rwanda to India Mukangira educated them more on the Genocide with personal experience as a survivor of the Genocide stating that the 32nd Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda is an opportunity for Indian students to know more about the tragic history of Rwanda.

April 7 each year is the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. This marks the 32nd time that Rwandans and the international community commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsi.

In Rwanda, the National Mourning Week and the 100 days of commemoration activities have officially begun.
