King Charles III to visit the U.S. in bid to strengthen ties after security concerns

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to visit the United States on a four-day trip aimed at strengthening relations between the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

The visit begins on April 27, 2026, following an attack at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where a dinner hosted by Donald Trump for journalists was taking place. Several senior U.S. officials were also in attendance.

After reviewing security conditions, the British monarchy confirmed that the trip would proceed as planned.

President Trump told CBS News that the British monarch would be safe.

He said: “It’s serious, but he will be safe. The White House is a secure place.”

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the attack appeared to target top American leaders but assured that King Charles III would be protected.

During the four-day visit, King Charles III is expected to hold private talks with Trump and address the U.S. Congress as part of celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.

According to Reuters, the visit is also expected to help repair strained relations between the two countries, particularly over disagreements regarding the conflict involving Iran.
