This was announced on April 29, 2026, by the Office of the President (Village Urugwiro) through its social media platforms.
In a statement, Village Urugwiro said: “This evening at Parc des Princes in Paris, President Kagame attended the semi-final match where Paris Saint-Germain, a Visit Rwanda partner and the defending champions, defeated Bayern Munich 5-4.”
The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich was highly anticipated, as the French club are the current title holders, while the German side has been among the strongest teams this season.
Paris Saint-Germain’s goals were scored by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (two goals), João Neves, and Ousmane Dembélé (two goals). Bayern Munich’s goals came from Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dalot Opamecanoo, and Luis Díaz.
The return leg will take place in Germany at Allianz Arena on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Paris Saint-Germain reached the semi-finals after eliminating Liverpool of England with an aggregate score of 4–0.
On April 15, President Kagame posted on X: “We congratulate Visit Rwanda partner Paris Saint-Germain for reaching the UEFA semi-finals. They played very well and earned the results they deserve. We wish them the best in the next stage.”
The partnership agreement between Visit Rwanda and Paris Saint-Germain was first signed in 2019 and renewed in 2025, extending until 2028.
The agreement allows PSG to promote Visit Rwanda at Parc des Princes and wear training kits branded with “Visit Rwanda.”
Since the partnership began, millions of fans worldwide have gained increased awareness of Rwanda through media coverage and visibility.
Through this partnership, more than 400 children have received football training via the PSG Academy Rwanda.
Each year, the French club sends players and legends to Rwanda to explore its attractions and share their experiences with their followers.
Among the most recent visitors are Océane Nathalie Toussaint Dit Marseille, Baby Jordy Benera, and Jade Le Guilly from the Paris Saint-Germain Women’s team, who visited Rwanda in late February this year.
