2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali officially became the most-watched edition in the event’s history

For the first time in history, 300 million people worldwide watched the UCI Cycling World Championships on television.

The event was held in Kigali from September 21 to September 28, 2025.

This was announced by David Lappartient, President of Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), during the General Assembly of African cycling federations held in Abidjan.

The French official stated that the competition set several records, including becoming the first edition to attract over 300 million television viewers globally.

More than two million fans engaged on UCI’s social media platforms during the event, while viewership increased by 50% compared to the 2021 edition held in Belgium.

For the first time in 125 years, 34 African countries participated in the UCI Cycling World Championships.

The competition was won by Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia.

The 2026 UCI Cycling World Championships will take place in Montréal from September 20 to September 27, 2026.
