President Kagame arrives in Kenya for Africa-France partnership summit

President Paul Kagame arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, on May 11, 2026, to attend the Africa Forward Summit, a major Africa-France partnership summit co-chaired by Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the summit, President Kagame is expected to lead a discussion on the use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI). He will also address African and French business leaders on sustainable industrial development and the use of clean energy technologies.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, said the summit focuses on issues including peace and security, as well as ways African countries can access financing needed to implement development projects.

Speaking from Nairobi, Nduhungirehe explained that heads of state and government officials are also discussing economic growth, trade and investment opportunities across the continent.

All discussions at the summit are aimed at strengthening Africa’s development and deepening cooperation between African countries and France based on mutual interests and shared benefits.

The summit is expected to bring together more than 4,000 participants, including over 25 heads of state and government, investors and innovators. Organizers say the event will conclude with a roadmap outlining the future of cooperation between Africa and France.
