Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of global stability and cooperation, as he hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing for high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding a long-term strategic partnership.
Putin’s visit comes shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump’s trip to China, reflecting Beijing’s active diplomatic engagement with major global partners and its growing role as a central platform for international dialogue.
During the meeting, Xi welcomed Putin with formal honors at the Great Hall of the People, where both leaders held detailed discussions in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, supported by senior officials and delegations from both sides.
The talks focused on expanding cooperation in key areas such as trade, energy, technology, scientific research, and cultural exchange. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening mutual trust, strengthening practical cooperation, and advancing shared development goals.
Xi described China-Russia relations as being at a “high level of comprehensive strategic partnership,” noting that closer cooperation between the two countries contributes positively to global stability, economic resilience, and international cooperation. He also encouraged further coordination on major global and regional issues.
Putin, for his part, praised the relationship as being at an “unprecedented level,” highlighting continued economic ties, particularly in energy cooperation, trade expansion, and infrastructure development. He also expressed Russia’s readiness to further strengthen engagement with China in multiple sectors of mutual interest.
In addition, both leaders highlighted the importance of long-term collaboration in science and innovation, as well as people-to-people exchanges, which are seen as key to strengthening bilateral understanding and friendship.
Analysts note that the visit further reinforces China’s growing role as a key diplomatic hub engaging major global powers, while also reflecting the steady deepening of cooperation between Beijing and Moscow across economic and strategic fronts.
The meeting is expected to produce further joint initiatives aimed at enhancing practical cooperation, supporting development priorities, and promoting stability in an increasingly complex global environment.
