Rwanda and France sign agreements on migration cooperation and employment opportunities for diplomats’ families

Rwanda and France have signed two cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening collaboration on migration issues and facilitating employment opportunities for family members of diplomatic personnel serving in each other's countries.

According to the Embassy of Rwanda, the signing ceremony was attended by Rwanda’s Ambassador, François Nkulikiyimfura. On the French side, the agreements were signed by France’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Aurélie Roussel-Garneau, and Laurent Touvet, Director for Foreign Nationals in France at the Ministry of the Interior.

The officials who signed the agreements emphasized their importance in further strengthening cooperation and the already strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The agreements were signed shortly after, on June 2, 2026, when Paul Kagame and Jeannette Kagame joined Emmanuel Macron in officially inaugurating a memorial dedicated to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The memorial, located in France, has been named “Les Archives.”

Rwanda and France maintain strong relations across several sectors, including development, education, justice, and other areas of mutual cooperation.
