Thailand’s Royal Household announced that Bajrakitiyabha, widely known in the country as Princess Bha, died at a hospital in Bangkok, where she had been receiving medical treatment for over three years.
The princess was hospitalized in late 2022 after collapsing while training her dogs. At the time, the Royal Household stated that she had developed a mycoplasma infection associated with pneumonia.
In the years that followed, the limited updates released about her condition indicated that her health had progressively deteriorated.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was a lawyer and was widely recognized for her efforts to promote justice and advocate for the rights of incarcerated women. She founded the Kamlangjai Project, also known as “Inspire,” an initiative aimed at helping female prisoners prepare for reintegration into society after their release.
She studied at Thammasat University before continuing her education at Cornell University in the United States, where she earned a doctoral degree. She later served as a prosecutor and worked in diplomacy, including as Thailand’s Ambassador to Austria from 2012 to 2014.
Her death has saddened many people across Thailand, where she was regarded as one of the most prominent members of the royal family and admired for her dedication to justice and human rights.
