Cabinet appoints new Auditor General and Deputy Auditor General

Rwanda’s Cabinet has appointed Claudette Mukashyaka as the new Auditor General, replacing Alexis Kamuhire, while Gratien Kubwimana has been appointed Deputy Auditor General.
Cabinet Resolutions

The Cabinet meeting was held at Village Urugwiro under the chairmanship of President Paul Kagame.

The Cabinet received the consolidated financial statements of the Government of Rwanda for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

It was also briefed on the progress of the 2027A agricultural season, noting that preparations were progressing well. Farmers were urged to complete land preparation and planting, and to use quality seeds and fertilisers properly and on time to increase agricultural production.

The Cabinet reviewed key findings from the Governance Scorecard and a report on citizens’ perceptions of governance and service delivery at local levels. Both reports indicated that governance performance remained positive.

Relevant institutions were urged to build on the progress achieved by implementing coordinated measures with clear performance indicators and monitoring mechanisms. The aim is to address the challenges identified and further improve service delivery and citizens’ satisfaction with public services.

The Cabinet approved the organisational structure of the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board (RMB). The institution was previously affiliated with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), but will now operate as an independent entity. The move is intended to strengthen the regulation and oversight of the mining sector and support its growing contribution to economic development.
