Russian authorities said their air defense systems intercepted and destroyed many of the drones before they reached the capital, Moscow. However, the attack caused significant damage in the western Russian city of Kotovsk.
The Governor of Tambov Region, Yevgeny Pervyshov, said Ukrainian drones struck a Wildberries warehouse and distribution center.
According to the governor, the attack killed seven employees who were working the night shift and injured 24 others.
A fire broke out at the facility following the strike, but emergency crews managed to extinguish the blaze, while recovery and damage assessment efforts continued.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that since 2:30 p.m., more than 370 drones had been launched toward the Moscow region.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified its long-range strikes inside Russia, targeting warehouses, transport infrastructure, and energy facilities.
Kyiv says the attacks are intended to weaken Russia’s ability to sustain its military campaign.
The latest strike comes as both sides continue to rely heavily on drones, which have become one of the most important weapons in the war that has now lasted for more than four years.
Russia has also continued launching drones and missile attacks across Ukraine, targeting cities and critical infrastructure.
