Iran says it seeks peaceful solution but remains ready to defend itself

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said his country remains committed to finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing war, while stressing that it is fully prepared to defend itself if necessary.

Araghchi said Iran wants the conflict to be resolved peacefully and in a manner that respects its dignity. However, he emphasized that its pursuit of peace would not prevent it from taking measures to protect its security.

“While Iran remains firmly committed to finding a peaceful and dignified solution to this conflict, we are also fully prepared to defend ourselves,” he said.

His remarks highlight Iran’s continued emphasis on negotiations as a way to end the war, alongside its insistence that it is ready to respond to attacks.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also said the United States should not expect negotiations with Tehran while continuing to block its path and threaten the country.

The statements come as Iranian officials continue to condemn US military operations, accusing Washington of destabilizing the region and disrupting the global economy.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused the United States of attacking Iran twice in less than nine months while negotiations were still underway.

In a post on X, Baghaei accused Washington of killing Iranian civilians, assassinating the country’s leaders and intensifying sanctions against its people.

He also accused the United States of violating an understanding it had signed on June 17, while seeking to persuade the international community to condemn Iran.

Baghaei argued that US attacks were responsible for destabilizing the region and creating risks for global economic security.

He said the United States should not start wars at will, create instability across the region and the world, and then portray itself as the victim.

Meanwhile, Iranian military spokesperson Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi issued a warning to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to Iran’s Fars News Agency, Shekarchi said the two leaders were heading towards a fall, adding that boasting and threats would not help them escape the difficulties they were facing.
