Doja Cat moves Kigali audience to tears at historic BK Arena show

In a night that Rwanda will remember, Doja Cat delivered a historic performance at BK Arena on Tuesday evening, captivating thousands of fans, including Rwanda’s First Lady, Jeannette Kagame. The concert marked her first-ever performance on African soil, a continent tied to her roots through her South African father.

The Kigali show was part of Doja Cat’s Tour Ma Vie World Tour, which began in Auckland on November 18, 2026, and will continue through Pretoria, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, Lisbon, before concluding in New York City on December 1, 2026. The Kigali concert was organized in partnership with Global Citizen under its Move Afrika initiative, which has previously featured artists such as Kendrick Lamar and John Legend.

The concert unfolded with high energy, with Doja Cat interacting with fans in Kinyarwanda, asking “Bite?” to which the audience joyfully responded. The highlight was her rendition of “Paint the Town Red”, eliciting euphoric reactions from the crowd.

Emotional inale

As the show concluded at 22:45 with “Baby, I’m Jealous”, Doja Cat was visibly overcame with emotion, breaking into tears. Her emotional finale resonated with attendees, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe, who praised her unmatched stage presence.
