Bugesera, Rwanda: First Lady Jeannette Kagame has led the inauguration of Imbuto Hub-Bugesera, the first facility under the Imbuto Hubs initiative, established to empower communities through education, creativity, innovation, and social development opportunities.
The newly inaugurated hub will serve as a community centre supporting children, young people, and families through education, creativity, sports, technology, and social development programmes.
Speaking during the official opening ceremony, First Lady Jeannette Kagame praised partners who contributed to the establishment of the facility, highlighting the importance of collaboration in creating opportunities that positively impact communities.
She praised the partners who supported the establishment of Imbuto Hub-Bugesera, saying the facility reflects their commitment, compassion, and dedication. She noted that the infrastructure, programmes, and positive impact on children and young people demonstrate the value of their partnership, adding that their contributions will create lasting change.
The First Lady said the launch of Imbuto Hubs coincided with Rwanda’s 32nd Liberation anniversary celebrations, noting that liberation is not only a historical event but also a continuous journey of building capable, confident citizens who contribute to national development.
“Liberation is not a single day; it is a journey for everyone, every day, to build citizens who are capable, confident, and able to contribute to the development of their families and the country.” She noted.
The Imbuto Hub-Bugesera is the first facility under the Imbuto Hubs initiative, which seeks to provide young people with opportunities to learn, innovate, connect, and access resources within their communities.
Imbuto Foundation Chief Executive Officer Elodie Shami said the initiative aims to strengthen families by supporting individuals from early childhood to parenthood.
She explained that the hubs will promote activities such as sports, entertainment, early reading programmes, digital skills development, and other community-based initiatives.
“This is a culture we want to build, not only a culture of the Imbuto Foundation. It is a place that has roots in the community,” she said.
The launch of Imbuto Hub-Bugesera demonstrates Rwanda’s continued focus on investing in human development by creating inclusive spaces that nurture talent, promote innovation, and improve community wellbeing.
