The Secretary General of the FPR Inkotanyi, Ambassador Christophe Bazivamo, held talks with the President of Senegal’s PASTEF party, Ousmane Sonko, focusing on strengthening relations between the two political organizations.
Ambassador Bazivamo conveyed a message of appreciation from President Paul Kagame, who is also the Chairman of the FPR Inkotanyi, regarding PASTEF’s first National Congress. He also thanked the party for extending an invitation to FPR Inkotanyi to participate in the event.
The two leaders discussed various issues aimed at building cooperation between their respective political movements and fostering stronger relations between Rwanda and Senegal.
Speaking at the congress, Ambassador Bazivamo noted that PASTEF and FPR Inkotanyi share common values, including safeguarding national sovereignty, independence, patriotism, integrity, good governance, national unity, and the pursuit of Africa’s self-reliance.
He stated, “FPR Inkotanyi reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation with PASTEF. We believe that exchanging experiences, engaging in political dialogue, and sharing best practices will enhance our capacities in areas such as governance and the sustainable development of our countries and the African continent as a whole.”
Ambassador Bazivamo also invited PASTEF’s leadership to pay an official visit to Rwanda in the future.
As part of their mission in Dakar, Ambassador Christophe Bazivamo, together with Senators Bibiane Mbaye Gahamanyi and Dr. Charles Murigande, met with members of the Rwandan community living in Senegal during a gathering dubbed “Meet and Greet,” aimed at updating Rwandans abroad on developments in their home country.
During the meeting, Ambassador Bazivamo highlighted Rwanda’s continued progress in development and emphasized the important role played by Rwandans living abroad in the country’s advancement.
He pointed to key sectors where the diaspora has contributed significantly, including education, where Rwanda is increasingly attracting international students; healthcare, where the country is advancing medical tourism and improving the quality of specialized healthcare services; as well as diplomacy, international cooperation, and trade.
He also reiterated that Rwanda has opened its doors to all Africans, allowing them to enter the country without requiring a visa.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Senegal, Festus Bizimana, commended the FPR Inkotanyi Secretary General and the accompanying delegation. He also praised the Rwandan community in Senegal for its contribution to national development, noting their recent fundraising efforts in support of the Dusangire Lunch program.
The Rwandan community in Senegal has also launched a fundraising initiative to support cervical cancer screening services for women.
