Iranian officials and state media said the attacks were carried out by aircraft. A BBC investigation confirmed that one of the strikes damaged a bridge in Iran’s Hormozgan Province.
The US military’s Central Command has not disclosed the specific locations it targeted but said the operations were intended to weaken Iran’s military capabilities.
US President Donald Trump had previously stated that the United States could target Iran’s bridges and energy infrastructure to pressure Tehran into returning to negotiations aimed at ending the war.
The conflict began on February 28, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Iran responded by launching retaliatory attacks against Israel and US military bases across the Gulf region.
In the latest attacks, authorities in Hormozgan Province said seven people were killed. They also reported that Iranshahr Airport, railway infrastructure, and six bridges were damaged.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, had earlier warned that “deliberate attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure may constitute war crimes.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had carried out attacks on US military bases in Oman, as well as other facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.
