President Paul Kagame received the President of the Council of Ministers of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, at Village Urugwiro during his one-day working visit to Rwanda.
According to the Office of the President, President Kagame and Gnassingbé held discussions on several issues of mutual interest.
“Their discussions focused on the strong and growing bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as ongoing efforts aimed at promoting regional stability,” the statement said.
President Gnassingbé last visited Rwanda in January 2026 in his capacity as mediator in the tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). He was appointed to the role by the African Union in April 2025, replacing Angolan President João Lourenço.
During that visit, he held talks with President Kagame at Village Urugwiro alongside a team of AU experts on eastern DRC.
The discussions centered on the security situation in eastern DRC, diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, and ways to strengthen regional and continental mediation initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability in the Great Lakes region.
