Rwanda calls for greater investment in technology and youth innovation at Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

Rwanda's Foreign Affairs minister Olivier Nduhungirehe highlighted the need to strengthen investments in technology-driven projects across Africa, particularly those targeting young people.

He made the remarks during the Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on June 1, 2026.

At the meeting, Rwanda emphasized that cooperation between South Korea and Africa should be anchored in development priorities and aligned with Africa’s Agenda 2063 vision.

Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe stressed the importance of implementing projects that promote technology-based economic growth and innovation across Africa, especially for the youth.

He also noted that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could play a significant role in Africa’s development if supported through partnerships focused on building skills, fostering innovation, and enhancing knowledge among citizens.

Rwanda further welcomed discussions between South Korea and African countries on mineral resources, calling for improved value-addition mechanisms that support industrialization, technology transfer, local processing of minerals within Africa, and job creation.

Minister Nduhungirehe also underscored the need for stronger cooperation in modern and environmentally sustainable agriculture, food security, healthcare, and the manufacturing of medicines and vaccines in Africa.
