Rwanda’s coffee ranks among top five at World of Coffee San Diego Expo

Rwandan coffee ranked among the top five best-tasted coffees at the World of Coffee San Diego, held in California, United States

The news of this achievement was announced by the National Agricultural Export Development Board.

NAEB stated that Rwanda’s coffee secured its position among the top five out of 48 competing samples.

It said: “Rwandan coffee ranked among the top five, outperforming 48 competitors that were evaluated during the World of Coffee San Diego international exhibition held in California, USA.”

The agency added that “this reflects Rwanda’s commitment to quality improvement, innovation, and competitiveness on the international market.”

Rwanda’s participation in the exhibition aimed at exploring new markets and reinforcing the exceptional quality of its coffee. It also provided an opportunity to further promote Rwandan coffee globally.

The exhibition took place from April 10 to April 12, 2026.

Coffee remains one of Rwanda’s key cash crops, generating significant export revenues, which continue to grow each year.

According to NAEB, coffee export volumes increased by 39% in 2025 compared to 2024, while revenues rose by 65% over the same period.

Data from NAEB shows that in 2025, Rwanda exported 23,860 tonnes of coffee, generating more than Rwf 216 billion.

This marks a strong increase compared to 2024, when Rwanda exported 17,142 tonnes of coffee, earning over Rwf 129 billion.
