Rwanda’s foreign minister meets South Korean president to strengthen Africa-Korea cooperation

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, was received by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung during talks with African foreign ministers.

Nduhungirehe joined other African ministers attending the Africa-Korea Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Ministers’ Meeting.

Discussions between President Lee and the African ministers focused on strengthening cooperation between Africa and South Korea and exploring new opportunities for partnership.

Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that South Korea remains an important partner in the country’s development efforts.

Relations between Rwanda and South Korea continue to be strong, with cooperation spanning various sectors including technology, trade, investment, education, and capacity building.

During his remarks, Nduhungirehe highlighted Rwanda’s investment opportunities, particularly in the mining and energy sectors.

The minister also held bilateral talks with Algeria’s Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf. Their discussions focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, enhancing bilateral cooperation, and promoting mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.

While in South Korea, Nduhungirehe also met with members of the Rwandan community living in the country during a gathering in Seoul.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Rwanda’s development, the country’s strategic priorities, and the contribution of Rwandans living abroad to national development.

Minister Nduhungirehe also briefed the community on Rwanda’s foreign policy priorities and the country’s continued efforts to deepen cooperation with international partners supporting its development agenda.
