The meeting, which began on May 26, 2026, brought together several Heads of State including Denis Sassou Nguesso, Brice Oligui Nguema, and Faustin-Archange Touadéra. It was also attended by heads of government, including Rwanda’s Prime Minister, senior executives from private companies, banks, and other institutions.
The Office of the Prime Minister stated, “Prime Minister Nsengiyumva joined Heads of State and Government during the official opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank.”
AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah emphasized the need for reforms in governance systems, regulations, and infrastructure that facilitate access to financing aimed at Africa’s development.
The African Development Bank began operating in Rwanda in 1974 and remains one of the country’s key development partners, with a significant portion of its funding invested in infrastructure projects.
