Trump removes US Attorney General Pam Bondi over Epstein’s case

Donald Trump, President of the United States, has dismissed Pam Bondi from her position as Attorney General over concerns related to poor performance and delays in releasing documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein

Trump acknowledged her service but reports indicate that she had delayed key decisions, including cases where individuals who spoke negatively about Trump were expected to face legal action.

Bondi has been replaced by Todd Blanche, who previously served as Deputy Attorney General and was also Trump’s personal lawyer, according to Trump.

Trump praised Bondi, describing her as a strong patriot and a close friend, and noted that she would be moving to the private sector, though he did not specify where.

In a post on the X platform, Bondi said it had been an honor to serve.

“It was an honor for me to work with Trump in efforts to make America safe, and I will remember it for the rest of my life,” she wrote.

During her tenure of just over a year, Bondi was known for strongly supporting Trump’s policies and agenda. She also allowed the White House to have influence during investigations—an unusual practice, as the Department of Justice (DOJ) is typically independent.

Controversy grew when both the public and government officials demanded the release of Epstein-related files, but Bondi reportedly delayed the process, arguing that doing so would violate legal procedures.

This led to dissatisfaction within the administration, with some officials accusing her of deliberately stalling certain cases.

Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier, was arrested in 2019 on serious charges including sex trafficking of minors, allegedly with the help of Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.

Epstein died in prison about a month after his arrest, in what was officially ruled a suicide. However, many continue to believe he may have been killed to prevent him from exposing powerful individuals.
