254 Central African Republic soldiers complete six-month military training in Rwanda

A total of 254 soldiers from the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA), including officers and other ranks, completed a six-month basic special operations military training programme on November 2, 2026.

The training was conducted by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) at the Nasho Basic Military Training Centre in Kirehe District.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Rwanda’s Chief of Defence Staff, General MK Mubarakh, alongside his Central African Republic counterpart, General Zephirin Mamadou. It was also attended by generals and other senior officers from both countries.

The training aimed to strengthen FACA soldiers’ military operational capabilities through intensive exercises designed to equip them with the skills, discipline and professionalism required for special operations and missions in challenging environments.

Rwanda’s Chief of Defence Staff congratulated the graduates on completing the demanding six-month programme, commending their dedication, discipline, resilience and commitment throughout the training.

He urged them to maintain the professionalism they had acquired, serve their country with dedication and make effective use of their newly gained skills.

He also reaffirmed the RDF’s commitment to sharing its experience and expertise with the armed forces of friendly countries as part of joint efforts to promote peace, security and stability across Africa.

Central African Republic Chief of Defence Staff, General Mamadou, thanked the Government of Rwanda, RDF leadership and trainers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment throughout the programme.

He said the knowledge, discipline and capabilities acquired by the soldiers would help them perform their duties more effectively and contribute to maintaining security and stability in the Central African Republic.

One of the graduates, Second Lieutenant Christ Ngboundourou, pledged to apply the skills acquired in Rwanda to protect his country and the people of the Central African Republic.

During the six-month basic special operations training, participants acquired advanced skills in military tactics required for such missions.

The training covered marksmanship using small arms and combat support weapons, hand-to-hand combat, river and water crossings, military map reading, helicopter-assisted military operations and other specialised skills.

The completion of the programme marks an important step in strengthening the professionalism of FACA soldiers. It also highlights the longstanding military cooperation between Rwanda and the Central African Republic, particularly in military training, capacity building and professional development.
