Egyptian quick-commerce startup Breadfast has secured $50 million in a pre-Series C funding round, drawing strong backing from major global investors as it prepares for regional expansion and a larger capital raise in 2026.
The Cairo-based company’s latest round was led by Mubadala Investment Company, the United Arab Emirates’ $330 billion sovereign wealth fund, alongside Japan’s SBI Investment and Saudi Arabia’s Olayan Financing Company.
Additional investors included Y Combinator and the International Finance Corporation, according to Bloomberg and reported by Business Insider Africa.
Scaling logistics and regional expansion
The fresh capital will be deployed to strengthen Breadfast’s logistics infrastructure, expand its business verticals, and explore entry into new markets across North and West Africa.
Co-founder and CEO Mostafa Amin confirmed that discussions with growth investors are already underway ahead of a planned full Series C round in the first half of 2026. The company’s long-term ambition is to pursue a global initial public offering (IPO), positioning itself as a multibillion-dollar African technology champion.
From bread delivery to super-app
Founded nine years ago as a simple fresh-bread delivery service, Breadfast has transformed into a vertically integrated platform offering groceries, prepared meals, pharmaceuticals, and digital payment tools, including a prepaid card.
The company also manufactures private-label products and operates branded coffee shops, allowing it to control much of its supply chain, from production to last-mile delivery.
This integrated model has helped Breadfast navigate Egypt’s volatile economic climate, marked by inflation and currency fluctuations. Private-label goods now account for approximately 40% of grocery sales, helping protect margins while enhancing customer loyalty.
Breadfast is targeting about 3% of Egypt’s estimated $100 billion grocery market within the next three years — an ambitious goal fueled by the country’s young, tech-savvy population and rising demand for convenience-driven services.
With heavyweight investors now on board and a clear regional growth strategy, Breadfast is positioning itself not only as a market leader in Egypt’s quick-commerce sector but also as a potential continental powerhouse in Africa’s fast-evolving digital economy.
