Yemen’s Houthi group says it launched a large missile and drone attack on a Saudi military base in the southern city of Khamis Mushait on Monday.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said dozens of ballistic missiles and drones were used to target King Khalid Air Base.
According to the group, the attack hit several military sites, including aircraft hangars, radar systems, runways and ammunition storage areas. The Houthis also claimed the strike caused major damage and losses at the base.
The group said the attack was carried out in response to Saudi air strikes on Yemen.
The Houthis claimed Saudi fighter jets, including F-15s and Typhoons, had carried out more than 300 strikes in several parts of Yemen over the past five days.
Saudi Arabia has not immediately confirmed the Houthi account or reports of damage to the air base.
Saudi Civil Defence, however, issued an alert in Khamis Mushait following the reported attack. It later said that the danger had passed and advised residents to follow official instructions and avoid gathering or recording events.
The latest claims come as tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia remain high, adding to wider security concerns in the region.
